Public Meeting on Dangers of Oil Rail Accidents, Refineries, Climate Change

Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Veterans War Memorial, 930 Court St., Martinez, there will be a public forum to discuss increased rail accidents, refinery dangers and climate change.
Speakers will be Antonia Juhasz, an oil industry analyst, author and journalist, and Marilaine Savar, a spokesman from a citizens group of Lac Megantic, Quebec, Canada. Lac Megantic is a small town structured like Martinez with a railway in the downtown that had an oil-filled rail car explode killing 47 townspeople and nearly burning most of the downtown.
