Saturday, April 21st 2012 3:00pm
New Orleans, LA
April 20 is the 2 year anniversary of the start of the second largest oil spill in world history. April 22 is Earth Day. As settlement negotiations swarm, join Antonia Juhasz, Keith Jones (whose son, Gordon, died on the Deepwater Horizon) and Gulf Restoration Network for a discussion of how to bring justice, restoration, recovery, and restitution in the wake of the largest environmental crime in U.S. history and to how to ensure such a disaster never occurs again. This event is part of the New Orleans Healing Center’s Earth Day weekend of events.
Antonia Juhasz is covering the historic trial and settlement negotiations against BP and all of the companies responsible for the Gulf oil disaster for The Nation. Her article will appear in the April 18th edition of the magazine. Her cover article fo the Progressive, “BP Oil Still Tars the Gul,” is available now.
Juhasz is a leading oil and energy analyst and author of several books, including Black Tide: the Devastating Impact of the Gulf Oil Spill (Wiley) and The Tyranny of Oil: the World’s Most Powerful Industry-And What We Must Do To Stop It (HarperCollins).
