In 2014, I founded (Un)Covering Oil, a nonprofit investigative journalism program. I conduct award-winning independent investigative journalism in the energy and climate sectors focused on oil. My writing appears in outlets including, Rolling Stone, Wired, National Geographic, Newsweek, Harper’s Magazine, The Atlantic, CNN, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Ms., The Advocate, and many more. I share my findings regularly as a guest on TV, radio, documentaries, and podcasts, and by providing public talks and lectures. I have an exciting internship program working with aspiring young journalists.

After working for two years at Human Rights Watch, I returned to reporting in mid-2024 because there’s just too make at stake to stay away and I’ve been primarily reporting for Rolling Stone ever since.
