The COVID-19 pandemic has reduced the global demand for oil dramatically resulting in armadas of oil tankers sitting off coasts around the globe.

At one point the price of oil went into negative territory.

But Antonia Juhasz argues that the oil industry has been facing issues of oversupply, low prices, and decreasing demand for several years now.

Could this crisis mean the end of oil is nearing faster than predicted?
